Portals in a mirror I hold up for you
By Destiny Falls
Absolution is the hole in which Alice fell through
before she realized she could fly. You are not her
contrast, but her equal. A fair maiden who after
delving into the sea defenseless found the
equilibrium of the water shattering to your worldview.
Fretfully young, and tired, in a world that expects the
greatness you desire to impress them as much as it satiates you.
Harnesses meant to take your energy and soar, lose
impact when they place you exactly where you began.
Jaded and dazed as life moves forward.
Knowing you as the star they would rather burn out and
leave behind than present to the world, because the
mirrors they cling to only reflect what they can control.
Nevertheless, you are as powerful as they say, and your words
offer those of us with no wills the opportunity to fly.
Perfection is only a person’s imagination and yet here you are quintessential in my
very existence of being soulful and beautiful.
Really it’s a shame. Guides willing to pass you by will one day
seeing that their first mistake was lingering at the sidelines tentatively.
Then it was being unable to grasp how authentic and
unique magic can be found anywhere. Including the
verse smile you hide behind. The warm gaze of a
woman whose art they could only hope to produce. Their
xenophilia could never cage you into someone stoic and uninteresting.
Yearning was created to graze the heights you reach. It is never
zaniness that keeps me eager to witness your life. It is just you.
